What Is The Circuit Rider?

Circuit Rider is an energy saving surge and lightning product line that offers two primary advantages:

to offer a viable protection means against the most damaging effects of surge transients lightning strikes,
to provide “noise filtering suppression” which allows the unit to respond to AC current noise to produce a more efficient stream of electricity.

How Does It Work?

There are glitches, surges and spikes that occur in your electrical wiring and are sensed by your meter. These “occurrences” are registered by your meter as kilowatt hours used. In reality, you get no benefit from these occurrences. Circuit Rider works to counter these occurrences and produce a more efficient stream of electricity at your electrical meter. This reduces the amount of electricity (kilowatt hours) that your meter senses and the amount recorded on your electric bill.

How does the Circuit Rider work?

The CR-Max saves kWh by several applications.

First, we have incorporated MOV’s (metal oxide varistors) in every CR-Max unit. These (MOV) divert transient voltage spikes and down-line lightning strikes to ground. The diversion of transient voltage spikes will reduce the amount of energy that motors draw. The harmonics that are present in every circuit are reduced by the combination of the relationship with the EMI filters, MOV’s and capacitors that are present in each CR-Max unit (Savings 0 – 4%).
By eliminating the transient voltage, we balance the voltage. A 3% voltage imbalance attributes to a 10% motor de-rating. By eliminating this, we save on the amount of energy that a motor has to draw to operate. (Savings 0.5 – 10%).
By having capacitors, we are increasing the Power Factor to all appliances and motors. The closer the Power Factor is to Unity (1.0), the more efficient a motor operates. Thus requiring less energy to operate. If Power Factor is at 0.85, this results in the Current wave “Lagging” the Voltage wave by 15 %. This results in motors having to draw 2 – 4% more energy to operate. By increasing Power Factor, we are eliminating the need for a motor to draw more Current (Savings 0 – 10%).
As we increase the Power Factor, we are lowering the amount of Current a motor requires. Normally, the Current will drop in the same percentage as Power Factor percentage increases. With the “Proprietary Knowledge” and a combination of other parts, we reduce the Current percentage to an amount greater than the increase of the power factor percentage. Also, we are eliminating Apparent Energy which heats motors. (Savings 0 -10%).
Then we have Harmonic Balancing. The 5th, 11th, and 17th Harmonics applies a reverse torque on 3 phase motors. The CR-Max restores the 60 Hz cycle and thus the 60 Hz fundamental cycle the 5th was countering (Savings 0 – 4%). Then the 3rd, 9th, and 15th (The Triplen Harmonics) apply no forward force on motors. By restoring the 60 Hz cycle, we eliminate the Current that feeds the triplen harmonics (Savings 0 – 4%).

The above analysis shows how we can save 0.5 to 42% on kWh. This is one of the many features that result out of the New Technology of the CR-Max. By eliminating the harmonics, not only will motors last longer, but so will all of your electronics. Eliminating the harmonics prevents overheating of components and neutral conductors, damage to motors, electronics, circuit breakers, and transformers.

Will the Ecologicx First Circuit Rider interfere with any other energy- saving equipment?
The Ecologicx First Circuit Rider must be installed away from variable frequency drives, soft starts and soft stops. The Circuit Rider may be used with all energy saving devices, however, special wiring may sometimes be required. Ecologicx First has diagrams depicting most scenarios. Our units lower the demand factor without starving motors of the electricity required at startup.

Will the Ecologicx First Circuit Rider damage my electrical system or any of my equipment?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! The Ecologicx First Circuit Rider is a passive device. In the event of a downline lightning strike or surge, the unit will absorb the spikes. If the surge is catastrophic, the unit will sacrifice itself to protect your equipment. In fact, the Ecologicx First Circuit Rider will prolong the life of your equipment by reducing the amount of heat generated by motors. When heat output is reduced, air conditioning costs are also lowered.

Where is the Ecologicx First Circuit Rider installed?
For in-home use, the Ecologicx First Circuit Rider is installed at the electric panel. For businesses, a Site Survey Analysis is required. This analysis aids us in sizing of units, number of units required and identifying potential trouble spots in the wiring.

How does the Ecologicx Circuit Rider save money?
The Ecologicx First Circuit Rider lowers the apparent power that is read on the line side of the meter without lowering the actual power supplied on the load side of the meter. In other words, the motors still draw the same amount of electricity, but the meter shows a decrease in the amount of electricity used because there is less power being consumed.
